Devlin Shea, born in New York City, currently lives in Stockholm, Sweden.
Devlin has participated in residencies at the The Banff Center in Canada, The Åland Archipelago Kökarkultur in Finland, The Vermont Studio Center, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s Swing Space program, Chashama North, Brooklyn College and the Experimental Television Center.
In 2007 she co-founded The Sunday Experiment, a monthly film and animation club, housed at the Interborough Repertory Theater in New York City. The monthly deadline this created helped inspire her to begin animating her drawings as another way of exploring and communicating the stories she works with in her paintings.
Devlin is represented by the Carina Björck Gallery in Stockholm. Her work has also been shown and screened in New York City at The New York Studio Gallery, The Climate Gallery, The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council's Open House, Interborough Repertory Theater and Brooklyn College; in Charlottesville, Virginia at Ruffin Gallery; in Chicago at Normal Projects; in Buffalo, NY at Hallwalls Contemporary Art Center, Carnegie Art Center and Squeaky Wheel; and in Boston, MA at the Green Street Gallery. She has shown internationally in group shows with the Evolutionary Girls Club in Germany, Finland, Sweden and the Ukraine. Her drawings have been published in 3rdfloor Arts Journal. |
