Sharing a sad song, erased charcoal and ink on paper, 22” x 30” (56 x 76 cm), 2009

If there were glasses I could put on to reveal all the thought-out scenarios that go on in peoples heads, the good and bad intentions in every interaction, I feel like erased charcoal would be a fitting medium to draw what I would see. I started using charcoal for some recent stop motion animations. I responded to the ghosts, mistakes and attempts, which are left behind in the paper. I like the permanence and boldness of the ink next to the smudged mixed-up people and how uniquely both mediums seep into and stain the paper.
